Before Ordering Service
When ordering our Residential Rekey service, there are a few things that can help us provide the proper service and assure that we can prepare our locksmith with the proper hardware.
- First, explain the situation. If it is along the lines of a break in, make sure the authorities are the first call you make. Next, call us, but please inform us when the authorities are complete. Although we know the importance of changing your locks as soon as possible, we also don’t want to be in their way or having to sit idle until they are complete.
- Next, you’ll want to get an accurate count of locks. Keep in mind, just because it’s a single door, it doesn’t mean that their isn’t locks on both sides. Count every place a key can insert.
- Third, if any mis-matched locks to replace, inform the locksmith. The 3 most common keyways are Kwikset, Schlage, and Yale. If your current key fits into every lock, this isn’t a concern. However, if you have several keys that don’t fit make a count of each one and either describe the shape of the working key or look at the latch on the edge of the door. Most Residential brands will imprint their makers name here.
- After that just include how many copies of keys you’d like. If you are going to have more than one key operate the locks on your home, please include how many copies for each. If we are to provide new locks, provide the brand, type of door, and material finish of the lock.
